COLLABORATIVE PROGRAMS
Discovering Justice
Plan
a field trip with Discovering Justice, a nonprofit organization
that aims to teach students about democracy by educating them about
justice. YA artists perform programs that explore important events
in American History relating to the concept of justice and the workings
of our legal system. These performances take place at the Moakley
Courthouse in Boston.

Make Your Own Radio Show
Young Audiences of Massachusetts and From the Top, the national
weekly radio program showcasing the best young classical talent,
collaborate on a musical and educational
residency designed to inspire an interest in music and the arts
among young people. The project brings together Young Audiences'
master artists and From the Top's young musicians who introduce
students to the concept of a radio show. Then, under the guidance
of the Young Audiences' teaching artist, students create, produce
and perform an original radio drama written by them, highlighting
the talent and personal stories of musicians from their own school.
Participating schools are also invited to attend a live taping
of From the Top in Jordan Hall.

Healing Arts for Kids
In the spring of 2004, Young Audiences of MA initiated a pilot
project,
Healing Arts: Performing Arts for Children in Hospitals. Three sites
were
chosen, the Massachusetts Hospital for Children, The Franciscan
Hospital for Children, and the Floating Hospital for Children Tufts-New
England Medical Center. The project has provided these hospitals
with live performances by professional artists for the patients,
families and staff, as well as performance related curriculum materials
for use in the hospital classrooms or activity areas. In creating
the multifaceted and innovative program, Young Audiences offers
an arts agenda in hospital settings to stimulate children's love
of learning and to experience the healing power of the arts.
