Classical Moves
Classical Moves is a great introduction to ballet, classical music
and their important relationship. Interactive demonstrations foster
a look inside the creative process and help students understand
ballet as a distinctive art form. This program is a rare opportunity
to get up-close and personal with a terrific company of ballet artists.
The program features eight Boston Ballet dancers, a ballet master,
and a pianist, as well as fully staged choreographic segments. The

Tara Ahmed NEW!
Taal Tales
With elements of storytelling, rhythmic footwork and athletic grace, classical Indian dance illustrates vivid stories from Hindu mythology. Taal Tales offers both a history of classical South Indian dance and performances of lively dance pieces. Students are invited to draw analogies between art and culture from India and America. They view posters of dance-related art, learn about the cultural context of classical Indian dance, try basic rhythms and hand gestures, and identify percussive
patterns and stories in the dance pieces. In this highly interactive program, participants are constantly engaged, both watching and participating in dance sequences, and asking and answering questions. As importantly, students will see that dance is a kinetic way to communicate history, and a means to observe and engage with different cultures.

This lively show highlights three principal elements of Brazilian culture: music, martial arts and dance. The rhythms played throughout the show are steeped in traditions of the past, brought into the present through soulful interpretation. The performers, drawing upon a lifetime of experience and practice, vibrantly demonstrate forms of capoeira, maculele, samba and their origins. Their movements are smooth, seemingly effortless and highly acrobatic. The performance weaves all these elements together with a sense of humor and play, making the show accessible and fun.
