Programs Offered

Assembly Programs Assembly programs bring the excitement of live performance to school audiences. All of YA's assembly programs combine performance, demonstration and participation elements. YA's teaching artists weave interactive learning opportunities and educational substance into 45 minute performances. The artists are adept at tailoring their teaching approaches to the needs of different audiences -- from the sophisticated to the underexposed. All assembly programs have direct links to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in both arts and non-arts disciplines. Use the menu above to view program descriptions by discipline.

Workshops: Many of YA's teaching artists offer workshops that spin-off from the assembly programs. Workshops provide students the opportunity to work closely with the performing artists they just saw perform on the stage. Activities focus on select concepts presented during the assembly program. Use the menu above to view workshop descriptions by discipline.

Residencies: Many of YA's teaching artists offer residencies. Residencies consist of a series of student workshops and culminating events that take place over an extended period of time, sometimes several months. Often, an assembly program kicks-off a residency. YA artists, YA staff and school staff work together to plan residencies. Through specialized workshops, YA artists introduce teachers to the art form and share the skills they will be using in the classroom. Teachers learn how to prepare their students for the artists' visit and how to reinforce the experience after the residency is over. All residencies have direct links to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in both arts and non-arts disciplines. Click here to view a list of artists who offer residencies.
