About Our Programs
All YAMA programs are performed by professional teaching artists who have completed a rigorous interview and audition process. YAMA evaluates our artists annually.
Each YAMA program…
- addresses the Massachusetts state standards in the fine arts and other academic areas. These connections can be deepened and integrated in your classroom through the use of our customized teacher guides, which accompany our school programs.
- strengthens problem-solving and critical thinking skills. creates the opportunity to enhance learning and integrate the arts into a diverse range of curricula.
- nurtures and increases an understanding of different cultures and traditions.
- nurtures and increases an understanding of different art forms.
- supports 21st century learning skills through the arts.
Assembly Programs
Supporting positive, educational experiences for children is one of the most important things we can do. Through performances and assemblies, our nationally and internationally recognized professional artists and authors bring school curriculum to life through music, dance, performance, and storytelling. These interactive and educational performances inspire and motivate!
Assembly programs are generally 45 to 60 minutes in length unless otherwise specified.
Programs are selected to correspond to the Massachusetts Curriculum Standards.

Residencies
Multiple-session programs with professional teaching artists who integrate an art form into other subject areas. Each residency is planned in collaboration with classroom teachers and customized to fit the needs of the curriculum and school.

Workshops
Introductory hands-on sessions that allow groups of up to 25 students to practice an art form with professional artists in a focused environment. Programs last 45 to 60 minutes and are offered as individual workshops. They can also be added after an assembly program to reinforce its content. We also have one-day workshops to address trageted curricular needs.

Community Programs
YAMA’s expert staff will work with your school to develop afterschool and/or community programs that focus on the arts and meet specific curricular and/or social goals articulated by your school or organization.
Professional Development for Educators
Programs are designed for classroom teachers and teaching artists to receive professional development to teach in, through, and about the arts.
Grant Writing
YAMA provides technical assistance in multiple areas to make arts in education experiences accessible to schools and communities. These services include researching and soliciting grants for arts integrated residencies.
